Instant feedback on written answers

NASBTT Learn has a great new feature for 2024 that we're really excited about: AI Response. In our new modules, whenever we ask a trainee to do a written task to check their comprehension or to reflect on teaching scenarios, we give instant feedback on their answer using AI! The AI response offers encouragement, which the trainees appreciate, and also pointers on what else they might have included in their answer.

Increased engagement

Trainees have found the feedback engaging and loved knowing that their answers are on the right track. The majority said that it made them try harder on the written activities and add more detail to their answers. The appreciated the suggestions on how to improve. "More courses should have this feature!" said Harley from PCP SCITT.

Scenarios and knowledge checks

You can generally find AI response activities in the "In practice" section of our new NASBTT Learn modules. Here, we include scenarios and ask trainees to write their response to the scenario, putting into practice what's been covered in the module. The AI checks that the trainee has thought of a suitable response, and suggests other they might consider.

At the end of every module, we also ask some questions, asking the trainee to summarise some key points of the module. Responding in writing requires more thought and engagement from the trainee than a multiple choice quiz and the AI verifies that they have answer correctly.

Note, the trainee can't complete the module until the AI thinks they have answered all the questions and scenarios well enough. There's no shortcuts!
