MDM diagnostic assessment

With 60 modules to choose from it can be difficult for a mentor to know where to begin. The diagnostic assessment is a great way for a mentor to personalise their learning and kickstart their journey with the MDMs. Mentors start by answering 20 questions about their skills and experience inside the NASBTT Learn app. Our recommendation engine then chooses the 8 best courses to get them started.

Based on NASBTT's Professional Framework

The survey assesses a mentor's skills and experience relating to each area of NASBTT's Professional Framework for Teacher Educators. It asks 20 questions covering each of the four broad competency areas:

  • Learning and Teaching
  • Professional Relationships
  • Organise and Manage
  • Professional Learning and Development

For each question, the mentor gives an indication of their perceived level of experience. The NASBTT Learn recommendation engine then recommends the most 8 suitable modules for the mentor to study, and 4 additional modules they might also be interested in.

Kickstart a mentor's learning journey

When the mentor completes the survey, NASBTT Learn sends the recommended modules by email to the mentor, and to the head of mentoring at their SCITT. The modules get added to the mentor's 'favourite' courses in the app so they're easily accessible each time the mentor logs in. It's a great way to kick-off their learning with the most relevant modules.

The diagnostic assessment is optional. Providers can choose not to offer it to their mentors.
